Chamonix lust

Chamonix 2013

I am not sure if it was the moment I drove into the Chamonix Valley? My first sight of what goes on above the lifts? The first line I climbed and skied?  Or the people I have met?

This place has inspired me to become better, look at things differently, challenge my skills, and trust what I can do.

My first trip to Chamonix was everything I thought it would be and more. It was humbling and challenging at the same. Right away I felt small and disorientated in such a hectic steep place. Once gaining my bearings and catching up to the Chamonix pace, I started to embrace the steepness and the exposure.

It quickly became one of the best ski experiences I have had and a style of skiing that I ski for.

I feel lucky to have shared my experience with the people I did, so many great characters and inspiring stories live in this valley.  It was hard to say goodbye to a valley filled with a lifetime of skiing. It has changed the way I look at the mountains and challenged me to come back next season even stronger.  The only way I could leave was knowing I would be back.

Thanks to everyone who shared this with me. I am truly grateful for new friendships and many great turns.  I know it is just the beginning of Chamonix skiing for me, I will see you next season!
